Director of Facilities

Summary:

Responsible for the leadership and operations of all departments within facilities management including: engineering, telecommunications, and facilities and property management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Procure permits and licensees as necessary and prepare and issue reports as required for regulatory compliance, whether internal or external.2. A good working knowledge of the operation, repair and maintenance of equipment of the following systems generally found in hospitals: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Communication equipment 3. Directly supervise; Plant Operations, and Telecommunications, departments including all staff and budgets associated with those departments 4. Prepare annual budgets and operational plans for presentation.5. Manage and maintain all service and maintenance contracts for the Engineering department and solicit RFP’s, negotiated contract terms and conditions for those successful bidders as required, prior to contract renewals. 6. Negotiate utility agreements for the procurement of natural gas, oil and electrical power.7. Develop a proposed Capital Budget list of equipment and projects for the building, equipment and systems within Griffin Hospital and Griffin Hospital’s holdings.8. Prepare Purchase Orders and Contracts as required and shall review invoices and requests for payments. Upon review, either approve or recommend for approval those invoices and requisitions for payments.10. Plan and implement in-house construction projects 11. Oversee corrective and preventive maintenance programs to ensure that all the buildings’ mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems are maintained12. Consistently ensure that all equipment and systems are tested, calibrated, maintained and functioning at operating levels in compliance with applicable codes and regulatory agencies. 13. Ensure that all standards of The Joint Commission (TJC) including those related to the Environment of Care are in full compliance with TJC. 15. Responsible for reviewing and monitoring the water treatment programs at Griffin Hospital to ensure appropriate biological/chemical water treatment is being maintained and that testing is performed and documented.16. Responsible to continue the efforts of the hospital to reduce the quantity of energy consumed through constant energy monitoring.

Educations and Qualifications:

A graduate engineer or have equivalent knowledge/experienceA minimum of 10 years experience in hospital facilities management and have a thorough knowledge of hospital regulations for those agencies having jurisdiction such as but not limited to the following:The Joint Commission (TJC)CT. Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP)Environmental Protection Administration (EPA)Department of Public Health (DPH) Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) National Building Codes and the CT supplements.
