WSP USA Traffic Data Analyst in Denver, Colorado

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Traffic Data Analyst to support our Denver, CO office. This position is a special assignment with the Federal Highway Association (FHWA) , to work on National Park Service (NPS) traffic data. If the client contract is terminated or expires, the employee will be assimilated into the WSP Office and will be involved in active traffic engineering related projects for other clients.

Your Impact

  • FHWA National Park Service assignment

  • Work on the NPS Traffic Data Annual Report, including preparing park chapters.

  • Investigate new traffic counting technologies and determine the applicability to different physical environments in the NPS.

  • Analyze traffic data in select parks for traffic patterns.

  • Compile data requests for traffic data, as needed.

  • Create/update count stations in the Traffic Database.

  • Assist the FOTSC Manager in the creation of the NPS Traffic Data Annual Report.

  • Prepare Park chapters in the NPS Traffic Data Annual Report.

  • Conduct field work, scoping new count stations and/or inspecting/repairing existing count stations based on FOTSC’s specifications and creating inspection reports.

  • Review inspection reports created by FHWA or its contractors.

  • Provide backup support other FOTSC staff.

  • Review and provide QC on monthly traffic data from NPS

  • Develop and update QA/QC procedures.

  • Drive Federal government vehicles.

  • Perform professional traffic monitoring and analysis work and assist with conducting investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, roadways, intersections, signage, signals, pavement markings, and transportation corridors to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.

  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, planners, scientific professionals, and DOT authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded road and transportation improvement and development projects.

  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Enginering, Math, Data Analysis, Accounting, Finance or related field.

  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

  • Candidate must be able to pass a Federal background check.

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in engineering, statistics, data analytics, or related discipline.

  • Field work may require hiking up to 0.5 miles in rugged terrain.

  • The National Park Service requires all contractors to go through a complete security clearance check prior to accessing the NPS work site.

  • The ability to travel to client sites (National Parks) approximately five to seven times a year.

  • The ability to report to the Lakewood, CO office in-person 5 days a week.

  • Knowledge with DOT advisory circulars and procedures is preferred.

  • Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.

  • Proficient in Microsoft offices (Word, excel, etc.)

  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.

  • Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience within the engineering consulting industry is preferred.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (Colorado): $82,400 - $98,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
