Amazon Software Development Manager, Amazon Consumer Electronics Technology (CE Tech) in Denver, Colorado

CETech is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to lead the charter of making Amazon most preferred destination for Consumer Electronic Products.

As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing and leading a team of talented engineers and establishing a culture that successfully delivers on design, development, testing, and the operations of systems your team owns. You will work directly with top notch product management, design, & Applied Scientist team and the broader Amazon tech community to build software solutions to enhance the shopping experience across all surfaces, including desktop, mobile devices.

You should have an established track record of growing performing teams, launching customer-facing experiences, deep technical ability, and excellent project management, communication skills, and ability to establish teams that collaborate across regions and functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Hiring, developing, and mentoring engineers, and managing the day-to-day activities of the engineering team in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach.

Owning the strategic planning and project management for long-term engineering projects, creating value for our customers.

Communicating effectively with senior management as well as with colleagues from software engineering teams, and other technical and business teams

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
