The Role

ABOUT THE JOB

Spry Fox is looking for a Senior Build and Automation Engineer to help us develop an original, nonviolent MMO and support the Spry Fox catalog, including the Cozy Grove franchise.

You will be responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining build systems and environments and automating tasks that will free up QA & development teammates.

You’ll work closely with the engineering and release teams, leveraging such build systems to improve confidence in our products and when and how we ship them. We’ll look to you to proactively seek opportunities to enhance and simplify our systems and workflows, resulting in a more delightful game for our players.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain our continuous integration build systems and environments.

  • Implement reproducible build agent provisioning.

  • Implement automated testing that assesses game client, server, and backend stability and performance using tools like Unreal’s Gauntlet.

  • Develop, improve, and maintain build scripts and tooling for client builds and server builds, as well as create promotion workflows.

  • Maintain and improve build processes for deploying an Unreal project to Android and iOS.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve build failures. Facilitate communication between team members to identify and fix issues.

  • Improve CI workflows, ensuring actionable & timely notifications are delivered to relevant team members.

  • Develop and maintain documentation on build processes and tools.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a build engineer in the games industry.

  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine, including scripting and automation within the engine.

  • Experience with building and deploying to both iOS and Android.

  • Experience working with and customizing continuous integration tools such as TeamCity and Jenkins.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Kotlin, and C#.

  • Experience with version control systems such as Perforce and Git.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more shipped game titles, preferably on iOS and Android or using Unreal.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.

  • Experience distributing builds through Google Play testing tracks and Apple’s TestFlight.

Compensation

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000-$600,000.
