Perkins Coie LLP Patent Docketing Specialist in Denver, Colorado

Job Description: Perkins Coie is seeking a qualified, dynamic candidate to take on the role of Patent Docketing Specialist responsible for processing incoming mail for the Patent Prosecution practice, as well as entering necessary dates/deadlines into the docketing system and ensuring accurate and timely entry of relevant information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.

Responsible for coordinating the docketing process with minimal supervision, which includes the following functions: Monitor Patent Prosecution Group's centralized docket email folder for receipt of docketing requests and USPTO/foreign correspondence. Coordinate with those who send entries as needed. Removal of completed items verified through Patent Center and/or foreign correspondence. Troubleshoot and resolve docket concerns and issues. Update dockets and generate custom reports as requested. Process incoming lateral attorney client files including putting files into standard patent format and uploading/entering dates into the firm's system. Monitor matter and client closures and perform docket system cleanup of related entries as appropriate. Update database in the event of attorney or staff reassignments/departures. May be asked to perform additional duties or projects as firm needs require.

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED At least 3-4 years of experience with one or more computerized docket systems. Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment, with superb attention to detail. Familiarity with USPTO rules and the patent lifecycle. Strong foreign patent docketing skills are essential. Familiarity with Foundation IP is helpful. Strong Word, Excel, and Outlook skills are beneficial. Possess strong time management and prioritization skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Qualified candidates must have an Associates degree and 4 years of related database experience or equivalent, as well as demonstrated experience in applying rules and regulations in a detail-oriented position. Candidates with experience in a law firm are preferred.

This position may be filled in the following location(s). The compensation depends on qualifications and experience.

Colorado compensation range: $76,990 to $115,960annually

San Diego compensation range: $88,520 to $133,330 annually
