Mobile IT Engineer Intern

Project Description:

In this paid position as Mobile IT Engineer Intern on Xcel Energy’s Custom Application Development team, you will work alongside our experienced mobile engineers to enhance and contribute to improving the technical aspects of our mobile development toolkits.

This opportunity will be focused on providing enhancements to a customized mobile software development kit (SDK) which is built upon Flutter’s SDK and is the basis for delivering native mobile applications to Xcel Energy customers and employees.

This customized mobile SDK brings to life our enterprise user experience (UX) design system and is critical for enabling multiple product teams across the Xcel Energy ecosystem.

In this position, you will continually improve our developer resources by contributing technical improvements to our customized mobile SDK, documenting technical improvements, and participating in quality assurance and mobile testing activities to ensure code quality is exceptional.

This is a great opportunity to help contribute to a new team within Xcel Energy’s growing Technology Services organization.

• Contribution to Xcel’s Mobile SDK which is built in Flutter/Dart 40%

• Support quality assurance and testing of new mobile development capabilities 30%

• Contribute to documentation of mobile development capabilities and procedures 30%

• This position is a 3-month internship with potential to continue into the fall. 40 hours/week in the summer, 20+ hours/week during the school year.

• Anticipated Start Date: January 2025

Minimum Requirements

• Ability to commute to location is required.

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in:computer engineering, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or similar.

• Recent graduates are not eligible.

Preferred Requirements

• Preferred experience and/or interest in software development, Flutter and Dart programming, and/or Node.js.

• Open to experience and/or interest in GitLab and/or (CI/CD) (continuous integration/continuous deployment).

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.40 to $30.10 per hour
