Generac Energy Services is a cutting-edge team that is working to provide end-to-end digital solutions and experiences for customers who are striving to manage increasingly complex portfolios of residential and/or industrial distributed energy resources and who want to leverage the power flexibility of their portfolio into energy markets and utility programs. The Software Engineer II is a member of a team developing and testing power generation control systems that can be remotely controlled and monitored using web and mobile technology solutions.
What We're Looking For
A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience
At least 2 years of solid software engineering experience
Around 1 year of experience developing software with Elixir or other functional programming languages
Proven track record of writing and maintaining robust automated tests (both integration and unit tests)
A growth mindset – someone who's genuinely passionate about continuous learning and improvement
It's a plus if you have experience working with the technologies we use
It's a plus if you have familiarity with Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS) or Virtual Power Plant (VPP) services
Technologies We Use
Our primary platform is written in Elixir, and we leverage the great resources in ecosystem, including Phoenix, LiveView, Livebook and Absinthe. We are currently using a variety of additional languages and technologies to deliver our services including: GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, Python, and Elm.
Responsibilities
Write code to develop new applications, enhancements and fixes to existing web and mobile applications using best practice design patterns to ensure performance and scalability.
Participate in collaborative design sessions, agile planning, code reviews, and retroactive ceremonies
Communicate effectively with a distributed team using Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Slack, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
Collaborate with Product, Program, and DevOps to ensure your projects meet business, scaling, compliance, and security needs
Stay abreast and make recommendations of emerging technical trends and coding best practices

Compensation: Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role when based in Denver, Colorado is $95,400.00 - $143,000.00. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short- and long-term incentives.
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
