Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Exam Preparation Assessments Program Manager to work with subject matter experts to create assessments that will prepare candidates taking AWS Certification exams. Exam Preparation assessments provide customers with practice with the same question quality as the real exam and exam-style scoring. This role gives the opportunity to learn, to teach, and to play at the same time as you develop assessments.

Successful candidates will have a strong assessment development background, be detail driven, and have excellent training and problem solving skills. You will have an understanding of certification exam development lifecycle and be able to effectively train subject matter experts on certification best practices. You will creatively seek out and embrace forward-looking, innovative approaches to assessment development.

Key job responsibilities

• Schedule and facilitate assessment development workshops

• Recruit and collaborate with subject matter experts

• Train subject matter experts on Amazon’s style guidelines and exam development best practices

• Conduct quality reviews of assessment files

• Implement proper tracking mechanisms for item workflow

• Manage and implement item development processes, including implementing efforts to scale

• Manage the editorial review of items (e.g. grammar, spelling, standardizing on technical terms throughout the exam, accessibility, etc.)

• Create assessments and implement assessment maintenance schedules

• Report on subject matter expert, item, and assessment development metrics

• Managing end to end item development localization

• Manage project schedules for product set life cycle

• Please note this role may require some travel (up to 10%).

A day in the life

Exam Preparation Assessments Program Managers manage end-to-end development of all content for assessments, including facilitating virtual question development with subject matter experts from across the globe. They work closely with the overall Exam Preparation team, including technical editors, assessment technical architects, publishing program managers, technical curriculum developers, and product managers. They also collaborate across teams on scaling initiatives.

The Exam Preparation team is part of the AWS digital training business, creating content for AWS Skill Builder. We use the Amazon working backwards process to build innovative learning experiences. Our global customers are enterprises, partners, startups, and individual learners. To meet our customer needs we are creating exam preparation products that deliver impactful, hands-on learning experiences. Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of program or project management experience

• Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

• Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

• 3+ years of experience in assessment development for certifications or credentialing exams

• 3+ years of experience facilitating and leading assessment development workshops

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of certification standards and best practices

• Experience developing questions for IT certifications

• Experience facilitating item development workshops with volunteer subject matter experts

• Comfortable presenting in large groups

• Experience working with multiple item banking systems and assessment delivery platforms

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
