We’re seeking a talented Environmental Engineer Compliance Consultant flexible US Jacobs locations but preferably in the areas posted to support and deliver Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans; Facility Response Plans (FRP); and Clean Water Act (CWA), Stormwater (SW), and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Regulatory Reviews and Permits through engineering, design, and project management. Jacobs is a hybrid work environment, and some work may be performed remotely. The role includes up to 50% domestic and international travel.
You will utilize your engineering background and creativity to address prevalent stormwater, tank, and wastewater compliance issues. You will help advance the industry by delivering sustainable solutions for clients and connect with Jacobs’ practitioners to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions. We will lean on you to lead design, engineering, and project tasks, delegate work, and collaborate with engineers and design practitioners of varying experience levels. You will also mentor junior practitioners and learn from senior practitioners to grow professionally. We will rely on you to develop and maintain strong client relationships to drive business through proposals, networking, and sole source opportunities.

A bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, or related engineering field.
More than five years of experience with Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans; Facility Response Plans (FRP); Clean Water Act (CWA); Stormwater (SW); and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permitting.
Experience supporting field efforts.
Experience working with multi-disciplinary project teams and comfortable guiding them through best practices.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration or possess the ability to gain licensure within one year of employment.
Certification by the Steel Tank Institute as an Above Ground Storage Tank SP001 Inspector or possess the ability to gain registration within six months of employment.
Experience with writing (i.e., regulatory compliance plans, stormwater inspection reports, proposals).
Effective communication skills, including demonstrated presentation skills.
Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
Planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet project deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail of complex engineered components.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a client-focused mindset.
The role requires US Citizenship and a US passport (or ability to obtain one within three months of employment).
Ideally, you’ll also have:
A master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, or related engineering field.
The ability to function as a technical project lead by breaking down complex problems into actionable tasks, managing workflows, and bridging the gap between technical and non-technical team members.
General familiarity with core project management competencies (ex: define scope, set timelines, assure quality).
