Job Description:

Opportunity:

Parsons is seeking an experienced Archaeologist qualified under the Secretary of the Interior's standard for prehistoric or historic archaeology to support our exciting range of projects across the country. Work will include Federal, state, and municipal projects, including all modes of transportation, federal programs, and utility projects. This position will be unique in the company and requires someone with technical expertise and flexibility to work independently with a diverse range of project teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop baseline and impact sections for archaeological resources in NEPA documents such as CATEXes, EAs, or EISs.

  • Prepare Cultural Resources documents including, but not limited to Phase I Archaeology Reports, Determination of Eligibility packets, archaeological sensitivity and previous ground disturbance assessments (from historic cartographic information)

  • Provide Section 106 assistance to Federal, State, and Municipal Agencies to include but not limited to preparation of consultation letters, coordination of Consulting Party meetings, preparation of technical information for upload to online SHPO web-based systems (e.g., NY-CRIS, NVCRIS, CHRIS) as appropriate

  • Conduct site files searches and literature reviews

  • Provide timely and constructive review of technical documents prepared by subcontractors

  • Review project design drawings and provide input on cultural resources issues

  • Coordinate with state/federal agencies and internal/external clients

The location of this position is flexible, but preferred locations are one of our existing offices in Centerville, VA; Indianapolis, IN; Cincinnati, OH; Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; or Southern California. The ability to travel to project locations is required but expected to be 10% or less. Potential for in-office or hybrid work locations.

Qualifications :

  • A graduate degree in Archaeology, anthropology or a related field

  • At least 5 years or more of full-time professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archaeological research, administration and cultural resource management related work

  • Meets or exceeds Secretary of the Interior’s standards for a qualified professional in prehistoric or historic archaeology

  • Experience in transportation/Federal Section 106 processes

  • Additional desired qualifications:

  • Expertise with identifying Native American Tribes and Alaska Natives issues and concerns and assisting Federal Agencies in consultation with appropriate groups

  • Experience with related processes/procedures, including NEPA and Section 4(f)

Salary Range:

$61,200.00 - $107,100.00
