Overview of the Position Responsibilities:

Our Accounting Director will have a broad range of duties including day-to-day oversight of the accounting department. Duties include aiding in evaluation of and maintaining appropriate financial controls, systems, and reporting; providing strategic input in support of financial objectives; mentoring and management of accounting team and with drafting of monthly financial reporting package. The ideal candidate will exhibit a curious attitude with an eye towards best practices and process improvement.

What You Will Do:

  • Overall ownership of monthly financials statements including preparation of cash flow. Prepare additional quarterly and annual packages to support additional reporting needs.

  • Strong attention to detail and understanding and monitoring all balance sheet accounts through review of monthly reconciliations.

  • Oversee all aspects of accounts payable processing.

  • Lead the team in a prompt and efficient monthly close process.

  • Develop new processes and enhance existing processes by utilizing experience and best practices.

  • Manage the accounting team of 4 staff in the accounting function by training, supervising, mentoring, and providing growth opportunities.

  • Monitor trends and lead monthly flux analysis of balance sheet and income statement versus trend and budget. Lead the team in identifying and researching variances.

  • Responsible for fixed asset reporting, including coordination with multiple functional teams to ensure accurate fixed asset records and construction in process tracking.

  • Understanding of complex accounting concepts (i.e., ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 350). Ability to research guidance, articulate impacts, document positions and develop processes to ensure compliance.

  • Understanding of processes and controls through various stages of growth and ability to identify and implement as necessary.

  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of corporate financial reporting including internal and external financial reports, annual audits, technical memos, and various other stakeholder reporting requirements

  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data and enhance the company’s value.

  • Manage relationship with external auditors and own audit process including the preparation and review of all schedules and requests.

  • Strong ability to forge relationships with finance and other business partners and across all levels of management. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

  • Assists with any ad hoc projects as assigned, such as research, reporting, and system implementations, projects, etc.

  • Advise management on the accounting implications of certain transactions, budget variances/trends, and on issues related to risk management, expense control, operational improvement, and financial strategy.

  • Collaborate with management on establishing corporate objectives, plans, and forecasts; and developing and implementing corporate financial strategies.

  • Proactively identify areas of improvement and lead initiatives to recommend and implement change.

  • Work across internal departments to maintain credibility, trust, and support of employees and other stakeholders. Ability to work with all levels. Ability to gain trust and influence.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

*What You Will Need: *

  • BS in Accounting or Finance required.

  • Licensed CPA required.

  • MBA/MS preferred.

  • Public accounting experience preferred.

  • 10+ years of growing responsibility experience in accounting/finance roles.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP and complex accounting issues.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics, Netsuite or similar ERP).

  • Knowledge of Coupa or similar procurement systems.

  • Experience conducting internal & external audits.

  • Effective time management with the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines. 

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. 

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.

  • Strong analytical, written, verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to articulate ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively. 

  • Upon job offer, must be able to pass a background check and a drug test prior to employment.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.  

  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus.  

  • Required to lift up to 5lbs at a given time.   

Salary Range: $127,000- $165,000
