Carpenter

$26 - $38 per hour plus weekly pay and benefits from the first of the month

This is a 6-week contract with the possibility for extension

Job Description

We are currently looking for carpenters/apprentice carpenters for sites in Tsawwassen, Delta, or Surrey. On a daily basis, you will meet with the superintendent to identify your focus for the day. You will attend a toolbox meeting in the morning to be assigned your tasks. You will read blueprints, complete tilt-up construction, form panels, footings, slabs, retaining walls, stairs, and layouts. You will complete various forms of form work.

Hard Skills

• Experience with formwork carpentry or tilt ups

• Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints

• Building panels, footings, retaining walls, and stairs

• Understanding footing, slab, panel, and underground layout processes

• Selecting materials, planning sequences, and methods of work

• Proficiency with necessary carpenter tools (hammer, tape measure, squares and levels, utility knife)

Work Environment

The sites are busy with communication and safety as the number one priority. You will be working on an industrial construction site. It is a fast-paced environment. Working hours start at 7 am, with an 8-hour workday including a 15-minute break at 10 am and a 30-minute lunch break. The workday wraps up at 3:30 pm with potential for overtime.
