The Role:

Seequent is evolving the way organisations work through better subsurface understanding. As the world leader in subsurface earth-modelling, analysis and data management and collaboration software, Seequent is at the forefront of building a collective understanding of the Earth.

Seequent’s Geotechnical Analysis product team is making a strategic switch from desktop development into cloud-based products built on Seequent Evo.

We are looking for a Full-Stack Developer to join our team, bringing us valuable first-hand web development experience, and helping guide, train, and mentor the rest of the team to deliver a successful cloud product.

As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and be at the forefront of innovation for Seequent. You'll play a crucial role in developing on top of our market-leading ecosystem of solutions, Seequent Evo.

You will help your team complete and ship their first web applications, providing technical guidance and mentorship as they move from building desktop applications to web applications. You will work on both the front and back ends, collaborating closely with our Product and UX teams, and supported by other experienced web teams, to create an amazing experience for our users.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • You have and maintain a significant knowledge, competence, and capability in web development.

  • You work efficiently and collaboratively with your fellow developers, QA, UX Designers, and Product Managers.

  • You build general, tested code, and refactor as you go. You can plan quickly and test quickly – you know the plan will change.

  • You own the components that you are building from initial design and architecture all the way to the end where it will be put into production adding value for our users.

  • You learn quickly and can get prototypes up and running in hours or can jump into an existing codebase and extend it.

  • You communicate and work effectively with technical leads, software architects, cloud operations, and other stakeholders to set expectations and identify risks and opportunities for the business.

  • You develop a broad understanding of the entire product / problem area, and a deep understanding of certain parts of it.

  • Your teammates look to you for leadership and understanding in those areas of deep knowledge.

  • Your team collaborates effectively, remaining committed and accountable to goals while also being able to pivot when needed.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of software development experience.

  • Experience building Single Page Applications and a strong understanding of both front and back end cloud architecture and design principles.

  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases (i.e. PostgresQL, MongoDB, MySQL, SQL Server).

  • Experience with CI/CD Pipelines (e.g., Github Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, Azure DevOps Pipelines, etc.).

  • Well versed on best practices related to coding, testing and API Design.

  • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

  • Excellent collaboration skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, and a strong “team-first” mindset.

  • Knowledge of agile development processes, frameworks, and practices (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
