Pay Range

$53,400.00-$73,400.00 Annual

 

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

The applicant needs to be a high-energy individual that is self-motivated to help drive continuous improvement and excellence in Health and Safety performance. This is an entry level Safety Specialist position that will provide the right candidate with an excellent opportunity to gain valuable working experience in the Occupational Health and Safety profession.

 

The Associate Safety Specialist will focus on plant H&S (Health and Safety) initiatives and think outside the box to help take the H&S program to the next level. This position will work with the plant operations team and the corporate Safety team to embrace our goal of a 'zero harm workplace'. This position reports to the location's H&S Leader and will work closely with the Divisional Safety Manager for direction and guidance.

 

Your Day to Day:

  • Supports and promotes safe practices in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Participates in incident investigations (injury, property damage, near-hit, environmental deviations, etc.) and root cause analysis, and works with the plant operations team to determine appropriate corrective/preventative action.
  • Performs risk and hazard assessments/inspections to determine employee risk/exposure and suggest/drive actions to mitigate/reduce them.
  • Helps drive continuous improvement in the facility's safety monitoring and recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with all JM policies and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Assists the plant operations team and JM Corporate Safety to evaluate and determine appropriate proactive safety strategies for projects that may have an impact on the facility or employees.
  • Collaborates on action plans for safety activities, coordinates the plant Safety Committee team, performs follow-up on these activities, and reports status to the Plant Manager.
  • Supports and assists with safety and health training for all plant personnel.
  • Compiles and tracks documentation for compliance with Health and Safety policies and required activities (Work Notifications, Inspection Records, OSHA 300, etc.).
  • Supports plant initiatives towards Lean, Kaizen, Cost Reduction, 5S and other facility improvements.
  • Helps ensure compliance with all Health and Safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Helps ensure all Health and Safety metrics and reports are completed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Assists with workers compensation cases.

What You Bring to the Team:

Bachelors' degree or 2 years relevant industrial experience in a facility where safety behaviors, an improvement mindset and proactive attitude towards safety were consistently modeled.
