Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain all quality programs including food safety plan, cGMP, food defense, food fraud, pest control, calibration, physical contaminants, non-conformances, traceability, training, internal audit, allergen, sanitation, environmental monitoring and vendor approval programs for regulatory requirements and audit readiness.

  • 10 + Years in Quality field experience

  • 3+ Years of Lead/Manager/Supervisor experience

  • Author, review, and approve standard operating procedures for compliance with SQF, HACCP, and cGMP policies and regulations.

  • Serve as SQF practitioner or appoint practitioner to maintain SQF certification.

  • Update food safety program as processes change as well as lead the food safety team/SQF team; document regular food safety team meetings.

  • Establish incoming materials quality standards and work to ensure that received raw materials, ingredients, and packaging are up to standards.

  • Establish finished goods quality standards and ensure that finished product meets those specifications; ensure that production records are accurate and that monitoring logs are completed as specified.

  • Investigate non-conforming product, disposition product, establish corrective and preventative actions and ensure documentation of processes.

  • Investigate customer complaints as needed and establish corrective and preventative actions as relevant.

  • Manage QA staff, perform and assign QA tasks to accomplish quality goals, objectives, and compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards.

  • Ensure accurate record keeping and retention of documents including COAs, SDS, HACCP monitoring.

  • Facilitate and escalate quality issues within responsible departments, work closely with production to resolve matters that affect safety and quality.

  • Escalate food safety and quality issues to upper management; identify strategies to manage issues and drive continuous improvement.

  • Analyze and trend data to assess effectiveness of food safety and quality systems and meet Key Performance Indices.

  • Mentor, develop, and empower quality team members to continuously drive food safety and quality throughout the facility.

  • Mentor and lead staff plant wide to develop a culture of quality.

  • Lead regulatory, customer and 3rd party FSQA audits.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Food Safety Supervisor, Quality Assurance Materials Specialist, Quality Assurance Supervisor, Product Release Specialist, Assistant Quality Assurance Manager.

  • Quality Assurance Director
