Leidos NDT Lead in Decatur, Alabama
Description
Leidos, is currently seeking an individual to serve as an NDT Advanced Level 2 or Principal Level 3 to work in the Decatur and Huntsville, Alabama area. This highly proficient individual will provide hands-on and technical support to the USA project, as well as other various Leidos projects and programs producing material and components that require stringent customer-defined integrity inspections.
Primary Responsibilities
List daily duties and/or specific job responsibilities.
• Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
• Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method for each certification as well as other NDT methods that can be used to verify hardware disposition results.
• Have the skills and knowledge to conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable
process standard.
• Be capable of providing the necessary guidance and supervision to trainees, Level 1, and Level 2 personnel.
• Using a broad knowledge of various NDT methods, product manufacturing, an extensive range of material characteristics, and test multiple technologies used by the employer, the candidate shall be capable of providing process recommendations to the Level 3.
• Use familiarity with codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the testing, and possess the ability to interpret and compare the specifications against procedural documents as used by the employer.
• Develop work instructions from approved general procedures and provide inspection techniques for review and final approval to the Level 3.
• Review NDT data for nonconformances, and assimilate ultrasonic scan data into a composite image for assessment with other NDT team members and project engineers.
• Evaluate materials with NDT equipment, troubleshoot, and investigate nonconforming indications in correlation to standard reference signals.
• As the NDT Program equipment custodian, the candidate shall be capable of procuring, maintaining, organizing equipment and the associated tool certification and calibration records.
• Shall create and deliver detailed reports on product/hardware, provide disposition, and offer possible solutions for rectification whenever possible.
• Assist the Level 3 in selecting, procuring, and integrating new NDT inspection equipment along with analysis software applications.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree with 4-8 years of prior relevant work experience or Master's degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant work experience. In lieu of a degree, a High school diploma/GED with 10+ years of experience as a Level 2, or 5+ as a Level 3 in ultrasonic testing (UT) will be considered
• Shall possess, or be qualified to obtain NAS410 Level 2 certifications in electromagnetic testing (ET).
• Shall be capable of directing work and making decisions for team efforts and solutions which positively impact project goals.
• Requires ability to communicate with the Lead level 3, other team leaders, and project engineers within and external to the organization regarding matters of critical importance to the project.
• Requires operational knowledge of multiple UT inspection platforms: Omniscan SX, Epoch 650, Bondmaster 600, and Zetec Topaz 32.
• Must be experienced in one or more of the following analysis software applications: UltravisionTouch, OmniPC, or TomoView.
• Requires familiarity of multiple data acquisition techniques using single-element transducers, linear arrays, and pitch-catch probes with both manual and encoded, semi-automated equipment.
• Requires operational knowledge of multiple ET inspection platforms: Nortec 600, and EddyView Pro.
• Shall be capable of using ingenuity and creativity to develop new technical solutions for advance Eddy Current and UT Phased Array inspections to ensure successful hardware integrity across multiple projects.
• Requires knowledge of, and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to Leidos hardware.
• Works to achieve key project/program objectives and deliverables.
• Capable of using MS Office applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a final Secret Security Clearances
Preferred Qualifications
• B.S. in Science or Engineering, or A.S. in Nondestructive Testing is a plus
• Weld inspection with PAUT is a plus
• ASNT Level 2 certifications or NAS410 qualification to other NDT methods in addition to methods listed above.
• Knowledge of assembly, fabrication, and manufacturing processes to serve as a Quality Inspector when required by Leidos projects.
• Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
• Some travel may be required, typically no more than 25%.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
