Job Description

As an Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for reading and understanding drawings, multi-level build of materials (BOMs), Assembly Procedures, and Manufacturing Work Instructions (MWIs). You will work with material handling equipment such as overhead cranes and man lifts, and maintain proper storage and handling of flight hardware material. You must ensure a clean and organized work area, facilitate manufacturing functions, and perform routine maintenance and daily cleanup that supports 5S and FOD. All work must be performed according to established standards and safety procedures in an AS9100 certified environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand drawings, BOMs, Assembly Procedures, and MWIs

• Operate material handling equipment (overhead crane, man lifts, etc.)

• Maintain proper storage and handling of flight hardware material

• Ensure a clean and organized work area, facilitate manufacturing functions, and perform routine maintenance and daily cleanup

• Perform all work according to established standards and safety procedures in an AS9100 certified environment

• Install and torque fasteners, drill, ream and counter sink, install rivets, measure and shim interfaces to close tolerances, apply click bond applications, and handle separation systems

• Prepare, transport, install, and certify ordnance components and separation systems

• Perform painting of flight products, tooling, and furnishings, and operate sealed paint booths

• Install electrical harnesses, instrumentation, doors, ductwork, and other subassemblies and components

• Prepare, package, and transport aerospace products, subassemblies, and components within the factory and to customer sites

• Integrate thermal shelter and acoustic protection panels

• Mix, handle, and apply various bonding adhesives and epoxies

• Use measurement tools (scales, calipers, torque wrenches, etc.)

• Manufacture large composite sandwich structures on tooling or molds, including material preparation, hand laying composite material, trimming, vacuum bagging, curing, demolding, and weighing

• Complete all manufacturing paperwork throughout the production process

• Operate manufacturing equipment as needed (oven, core saw, CNC cutter, layup table, laser projector, etc.)

Essential Skills

• Ability to read and understand drawings, BOMs, Assembly Procedures, and MWIs

• Experience working with material handling equipment (overhead crane, man lifts, etc.)

• Knowledge of maintaining proper storage and handling of flight hardware material

• Ability to work with shop power tools (drills, saws, routers, sanders, etc.)

• Experience with mechanical assembly, machining, and electro-mechanical skills

• Knowledge of GD&T, carbon fiber, and composite materials

• Proficiency with hand and power tools, tape measure, and measurement tools (scales, calipers, torque wrenches, etc.)

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with installing and torquing fasteners, drilling, reaming, counter sinking, installation of rivets, measuring and shimming interfaces to close tolerances, click bond applications, and handling separation systems

• Experience in preparing, transporting, installing, and certifying ordnance components and separation systems

• Experience in painting flight products, tooling, and furnishings, and operating sealed paint booths

• Experience in installing electrical harnesses, instrumentation, doors, ductwork, and other subassemblies and components

• Experience in preparing, packaging, and transporting aerospace products, subassemblies, and components

• Experience in integrating thermal shelter and acoustic protection panels

• Experience with mixing, handling, and applying various bonding adhesives and epoxies

• Experience in manufacturing large composite sandwich structures on tooling or molds, including material preparation, hand laying composite material, trimming, vacuum bagging, curing, demolding, and weighing

• Experience in operating manufacturing equipment (oven, core saw, CNC cutter, layup table, laser projector, etc.)

Work Environment

Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, the company operates a brand-new climate-controlled aerospace facility in Decatur, AL. The majority of the need is for the 2nd shift (3pm - 11:30pm M-F) with 10% overtime after training. Training will be conducted on the day shift (7am - 3:30pm) for the first 2-3 months before transitioning to the 2nd shift. There is also a possibility of a night shift. The team is evenly split between two buildings, which are within walking distance of each other.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
