Ford Motor Company Tech Specialist - Low Voltage Electrical Distribution System Design Sign-Off in Dearborn, Michigan

In this position...

This position will be a Ford SPOC resource for Low Voltage and High Voltage Electrical Distribution Systems (e.g., wiring, routing, retention, protection, etc.) implementation and signoff relating to milestone technical design reviews, DV testing, requirement compliance, robustness documentation, as well as assembly and service feasibility for wiring harnesses/systems (both EDS owned & non-EDS owned designs).

What you'll do...

  • Ensure evidence stored in FEDE aligns with data required to ensure robust Requirement and Design Rule Compliance (both EDS owned & non-EDS owned designs).

  • Signoff evidence of compliance in FEDE for Design Rules and Requirements which are designated as High Impact (HIR) (both EDS owned & non-EDS owned designs).

  • Lead EDS Milestone Technical Design Reviews for non-EDS owned designs for all forward model programs.

  • Lead EDS Milestone Technical Design Reviews for forward model programs when assigned EDS TS is not available (EDS owned designs).

  • Confirm application specific new or unique noise factors, customer usage, and failure modes (beyond foundation FMA) and quality history learnings were included in all applicable Robustness Documents (e.g., Change Point Analysis (CPA), Quality History, FMA, Boundary Diagrams, Interface Analysis, P-Diagrams, DFMEA, SCCAF, etc.).

  • Signoff program specific CPA, DFMEA, SCCAF(s) at the required program milestones.

  • Ensure alignment of DFMEA and SCCAF(s) relating to YS/YC classifications, Spec/Tolerance, and Process Control Methods.

  • Contribute to the enhancement of existing LV and HV EDS foundation documents, and development of new processes and requirements.

  • Matched pair learning and ultimately mentoring/coaching EDS teams in the implementation of the EDS Quality foundation documents (FMA, FMEAs, Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, etc.) and other Core documents and design processes.

  • Leadership/Facilitation of root cause identification and prevent action implementation for PAC/StopShip/FSAs, etc.

  • Support LV and HV EDS Tech Club, Project Management Tech Club, VSI Tech Club, MCAD Tech Club, & VO Tech club.

  • Collaborate with other EDS TSs, EDS Core, and EDS Process teams to commonize and drive efficient processes, requirements, design rules, etc. across both LV & HV EDS.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Global LV and HV EDS process documentation working with EDS Process leaders.

  • Provide consultation/leadership in resolving LV and HV EDS reliability/robustness technical issues.

  • Feedback lessons learned into EDS foundation documentation.

  • Lead the prioritization and drive closure of issues relating to EDS specification improvements, design rule development, SDS revisions, etc.

  • Lead feedback to Global EDS Core and implementation of in-region specific governmental regulations and industry standards.

  • Support Engineering & supplier community through training, seminars, and mentoring.

  • Support architecture strategies relating to harness partitioning, routing, retention, etc.

  • Support EDS complexity reduction for forward model programs including integration of complexity tools.

  • Support EDS 2D, 3D, and CAE toolset requirements and enhancements.

  • Contribute to EDS Design Checklist that captures EDS lessons learned, best practices, PAAT guidelines, etc.

  • Support the development and implementation of EDS core strategies (i.e. retainer/Clips, directed sourcing commodities, etc.)

  • Support Systems Technical Specialists in the development and improvement of Powertrain, Electrical, Chassis and Body Engineering design transmittals and interfaces .

You'll have...

Bachelor's degree in engineering.

10 or more years of direct experience with automotive Electrical Distribution Systems.

Even better, you may have...

Master’s degree in engineering.

High Voltage EDS experience desirable.

Proven and recognized leader in Automotive EDS design with focus on reliability process implementation and EDS harness complexity reduction, design verification/testing (DVP&R).

Vehicle launch experience with in-depth knowledge of Vehicle Assembly and Service relating to EDS.

Experienced in EDS Quality disciplines and processes.

A recognized expert in automotive performance specifications, requirements & test methods for EDS Power Distribution Systems.

A recognized expert with analyzing and resolving EDS design and quality issues.

In-depth knowledge of vehicle program design process, harness manufacturing processes, and E/E systems.

Excellent program management skills, mentoring skills, as well as written and oral communication skills

Strong supplier relationship skills to coach and lead EDS Engineers and suppliers as required.

This position is a range of salary grades LL6 .
