To meet the growing needs of the mobility business, the CSE team is looking for a self-motivated, technically proficient individual to craft and shepherd coherent solutions. This will require collaboration with a range of stakeholders to clarify requirements, establish pragmatic approaches, and support and articulate decisions over time. You will join a cloud architecture team that works closely with engineering teams and other architects across the organization.

What you'll do...

Serve as a Cloud Solution Architect to guide the design, development, and support of platforms, APIs, and services that deliver a geographically distributed IoT platform

Help unify existing platforms and develop supple, future-facing designs

Bolster data as a product practices and tooling driven by API and data contracts

Contribute to the cloud architecture team by helping to assess and improve its practices

Continuously learn complex and inter-connected domain areas to make informed decisions and recommendations

Apply requirements engineering practices to enable validation of systems

Work with product managers to devise solutions and break them down into incremental production-ready user stories

Work with engineering teams to refine and capture system designs

Evangelize and enforce characteristics that enable horizontal scalability and resilience across distributed systems

Facilitate inter-team communication to foster smoother integration and conceptual integrity

Assess and document rationale and tradeoffs involved in decisions and re-assess such decisions over time

Create Proofs of Concepts (POCs) to assess solution viability

Contribute as needed to develop and support systems

Build shared understanding through models, documentation, and discussions

Work in an agile software development environment using sprint/user story methodology

Work to establish and verify practices that maximize efficiency and minimize risk

Contribute to systemic improvements across processes and tooling

Introduce tools and libraries that improve developer experience and desired qualities

Research and analyze technologies and their suitability for existing and expected needs

Develop software that is Clean Code compliant and utilize tools such as SonarQube

Create and extend Web services to support architectural initiatives

Use DevOps tools such as GitHub, SonarCube, CheckMarx, and FOSSA to deploy, improve and manage software

Stay current on the latest technology and contribute to the technical direction of the company while keeping a customer-centric approach

You'll have...

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field of study.

5+ years of Software engineering experience using Java or Go developing services (APIs, REST, etc.)

2+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud service provider (AWS, Azure, etc.) and associated cloud components.

Experience designing/architecting and running 2+ distributed systems in a production environment

STRONG communications skills and cognitive agility - ability to engage in deep technical discussions with customers and peers, become a trusted technical advisor, and maintain good documentation

Even better, you may have...

Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a closely related field of study

Familiarity with a breadth of programming languages, platforms, and systems

Experience with asynchronous messaging and eventually consistent system design

An agile, pragmatic, and empirical mindset

Critical thinking, decision-making and leadership aptitudes

Good organizational and problem-solving abilities

Deep understanding of design principles and a developed taste for clean solutions

Experience supporting critical applications in production at scale
