The Network Operations Team is responsible for maintaining Ford’s global infrastructure (Ford data centers, network hubs/colos, manufacturing plants, office buildings, etc.) This includes Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Software Defined Networks, Policy/Security Controls, etc.

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will support wireless operations, deployments, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the wireless infrastructure. This includes collaborating with engineering and services teams and maintaining installation documentation, standards, and troubleshooting/support guides. You will help develop and train others on the use of tools and processes (Cisco Prime, Catalyst Center, Splunk, LiveAction, LogScale, etc.).

** This is a “ Hybrid Position” , and you will collaborate with colleagues and teams in our Dearborn, MI office. **

What you’ll be able to do:

  • Lead Wireless Projects for Infrastructure Upgrades, Major Deployments, and Organizational Efforts

  • Subject Matter Expert on Wireless (FlexConnect, Outdoor and Indoor), Wireless Catalyst Center Functions

  • Review, Install, Configure, Test, and Validate Network configurations.

  • Propose / Design Standards, Processes, and Procedures for Wireless Operations

  • Create Technical Deliverables Including Implementation Plans, Assessments, Documentation, and Training

  • Drive Periodic Meetings with Stakeholders on Upcoming, Ongoing, and Completed tasks.

  • Provide Escalation Level Support for Critical / Major Wireless Deployments and Troubleshooting

  • Manage and Support Vendor Partners as Required (Technology / Hardware / Software / Testing / Integration, etc.)

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or a combination of education and equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of AireOS and IOS Wireless Infrastructure

  • 3+ years of Cisco Prime and Catalyst Center

  • 5+ years of GUI and CLI Familiarity with Wireless Controllers

  • 5+ years of Cisco Routers / Switches

  • 3+ years of Change / Incident / Problem Management

  • 5+ years of Wireless Network Operations/Implementation/Engineering Experience in Routing, Switching and Designs, Configuration and Troubleshooting

Our preferred requirements:

  • Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or a combination of education and equivalent experience

  • Agile Project Methodologies and Tools (ex. Rally, Document Repositories, SharePoint, Design/Standards, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Software Define Networking, Scripting, BMC and Support Tools

  • Functional Understanding of IT Service Management / IT Infrastructure Library

  • Ability to Solve Complex Problems that Span Across Network, Client, and Hosting Technologies

  • Exceptional Communication and Organizational Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to effectively communicate on technical and non-technical subjects.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage a variable workload within an environment with conflicting demands.
