Job Summary: The Levy Group of Companies seeks a Safety Specialist* *to work at our Brandenburg and Ghent, KY locations. The Safety Specialist is an intermediate-level position that includes various administrative and analytical duties coupled with opportunities for practical application of knowledge in the field. This individual will serve the organization's EHS team and be developed by safety and environmental professionals. We are a unique, 100-year-old family-owned company that transforms our recycled products into construction materials, lightweight aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, agricultural products, and more. We provide steel mill services, flame cutting and treatment, road building, logistics, laboratory testing, and a variety of other solutions for our customers.
Responsibilities: Compile and analyze a variety of safety data and reports. Utilize analysis to make recommendations to improve safety programs. Oversee OSHA recordkeeping requirements and support the injury case management process to ensure accurate data reporting. Assist with the development of safety training and programs. Identify opportunities to improve EHS Portal. Provide required management reporting. Assist with the implementation of safety and environmental policies and regulations. Participate in site safety inspections and regulatory compliance audits. Assist in investigating safety-related incidents, root cause analysis and ensure implementation of corrective actions. Provide and/or facilitate required safety training. Assist management with ensuring that employees' PPE, safety tools and equipment are appropriate for the job. Develop worksite safety topics for safety meetings. Monitor applicable compliance and training records. Attend and participate in monthly safety committee meetings. Maintain current knowledge of safety and environmental regulations. Act as a subject matter expert on routine safety matters. Work with divisional safety managers to support their safety programs and initiatives. Assist with special projects.
Qualifications: Safety related experience or internship. Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT standards. Knowledge of any local or state requires safety and environmental standards. Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Workable knowledge of EHS Portal or comparable safety software system. Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format individually and in group settings. Ability to interface with various levels of employees and customers. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to travel. Good driving record. Bachelor's degree in safety management, EH&S, industrial hygiene, or safety technology.
