Ford Motor Company Data Governance Supervisor in Dearborn, Michigan
The Data Governance Supervisor leads a team responsible for ensuring the secure and compliant access to enterprise data. This role requires a strong understanding of data governance principles, privacy regulations, and data protection best practices. The Supervisor will manage a team focused on access requests, troubleshooting, process improvement, and compliance support, working closely with various stakeholders across the organization.
Team Management & Operations:
Access Management & Compliance: Oversee a team responsible for approving and managing data access requests, ensuring adherence to company policies, and risk guidelines. This includes:
Approving access requests, prioritizing automation to reduce manual approvals.
Creating and managing manual processes to handle complex or sensitive access requests
Provide leadership and support during system changes or updates that impact user access.
Managing a mailbox supporting our end-users, addressing inquiries and escalating as needed.
Handling special access requests related to litigation or compliance investigations.
Implementing and managing automated decisioning rules to streamline access approvals.
Providing consultation on access decisioning processes and challenges.
Developing and maintaining end-user documentation for access provisioning solutions for big data environments.
Data Protection & Troubleshooting: Lead a team responsible for resolving data access issues, collaborating with users of the Enterprise Data Platform. This includes:
Troubleshooting access problems across various environments.
Managing cross-environment approval processes and intra-Platform request processing.
Providing input on automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Overseeing the access admin process.
Managing access-related migration activities.
Process Improvement & Collaboration:
Work closely with the access provisioning solutions for big data environments team to champion UX and process improvements needed to support request processing.
Collaborate with product teams to create and support manual or automated provisioning processes.
Participate in cross-functional data projects as needed.
Product Management
Prioritize features and enhancements based on business needs and stakeholder feedback to support improvements in access management administration.
Collaborate with engineering and other teams to ensure timely and effective implementation of new features and updates.
Performance Management & Reporting:
Define, monitor, and report on key access-related metrics.
Provide regular performance reports and data analysis to leadership and the Office of General Counsel.
Monitor performance metrics and identify areas for improvement in the access decisioning process.
Compliance & Audit Support:
Support compliance and audit activities, including but not limited S-Ox, GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant audits
Oversee access-related audits and ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. An advanced degree (Master's or MBA) is preferred.
5+ years of experience in data governance, data protection, or a related field.
3+ years experience in managing a team of 5+ people.
Proven experience leading and mentoring teams.
Deep understanding of relevant global privacy regulations.
Experience working with large-scale data platforms and technologies.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
Experience with GCP or other cloud solution
Preferred:
Certifications in data governance, data protection, or privacy (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CISM).
Experience with Agile methodologies.
