Performance Driven Workforce Car Porter in Dearborn, Michigan
Position Summary: A Car Porter, also known as a Vehicle Porter or Lot Attendant, is responsible for moving, organizing, and maintaining vehicles at car dealerships, service centers, rental agencies, or parking lots. They ensure vehicles are clean, parked in the correct locations, and ready for customer use or further service. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a passion for cars.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Movement and Organization:
- Transport cars between dealership lots, service bays, or rental locations.
- Ensure vehicles are parked in designated areas and aligned properly for display or storage.
- Assist in delivering vehicles to customers or preparing them for test drives.
Vehicle Inspection and Care:
- Perform basic inspections (e.g., checking tire pressure, fuel levels, or fluid levels).
- Report any noticeable damages, malfunctions, or maintenance needs.
- Ensure all vehicles are locked and secure when not in use.
Vehicle Cleaning and Preparation:
- Wash, vacuum, and detail vehicle interiors and exteriors as required.
- Remove debris and ensure each vehicle is customer-ready.
- Maintain cleanliness of the lot or parking area by disposing of trash and debris.
Support Service Department:
- Assist mechanics by moving cars into and out of service bays.
- Retrieve vehicles for customers during pick-up or after servicing.
Customer Service Support:
- Greet customers in a friendly manner and assist with basic inquiries.
- Provide excellent service during vehicle drop-offs and pick-ups.
Inventory and Documentation:
- Track vehicle movements and ensure accurate logging of car locations.
- Maintain keys and other vehicle-related equipment securely.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
- Previous experience in a similar role is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with basic vehicle care and inspection is preferred.
