Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and solution-oriented Buyer to join our team, specifically handling Underbody/Chassis Components. The ideal candidate must be a strong communicator, comfortable with conflict, and possess good business acumen.
Responsibilities
Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments, communicating any supply problems impacting business operations.
Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
Monitor and advise on any issues presenting risk or opportunity to the organization.
Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.
Provide analysis on costs, both new and existing, and review cost reduction activities.
Work closely with others in the procurement function to review opportunities for continuous improvement and business enhancements.
Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and ensure good communication.
Conduct research for new components and suppliers.
Compile data relating to supplier performance for evaluation.
Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
Resolve supplier shortages and past-due situations.
Update and maintain commodity strategies.
Work with cost estimating to develop cost estimates for savings negotiations and to mitigate supplier uplift requests.
Produce weekly reports, charts, and status updates on open assignments and projects.
Perform market tests, analyze responses, and award sourcing of parts.
Review open vehicles off-road (VOR) and backorders on a weekly basis and expedite parts delivery.
Essential Skills
2-3 years of purchasing/buyer experience.
Automotive purchasing experience.
Motivated, self-starter, solution-oriented.
Intermediate Excel proficiency (testing required).
SAP/ERP experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in electronics, interior, digital, or semiconductor industries is a plus.
Work Environment
The position is hybrid, currently 3 days onsite per week (typically Tues/Wed/Thurs) with flexibility to switch onsite days as needed for team meetings or supplier visits. The work environment is a recently renovated open concept building with no set desk assignments and a large cafeteria. The dress code is business casual, and work hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $37.00/hr.
