Job Title: Buyer

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and self-starting Buyer to join our team. As a Buyer within the Customer Service Division's Purchasing Department, you will handle Underbody/Chassis Components. The ideal candidate must be a very strong communicator, comfortable with conflict, and possess good business acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.

  • Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments, and communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations.

  • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.

  • Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.

  • Provide analysis on costs, new and existing, and review cost reduction activities.

  • Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.

  • Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.

  • Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications.

  • Conduct research for new components and suppliers.

  • Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation.

  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.

  • Resolve supplier shortages and past-due situations.

  • Update and maintain commodity strategies.

  • Work with cost estimating to develop cost estimates as needed for savings negotiations and to mitigate supplier uplift requests.

  • Produce weekly reports, charts, and status on open assignments and projects.

  • Perform market tests, analyze responses, and award sourcing of parts.

  • Review open vehicles off-road (VOR) and backorders on a weekly basis and expedite parts delivery.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of purchasing/buyer experience.

  • Automotive purchasing experience.

  • Motivated, self-starter, and solution-oriented.

  • Intermediate Excel skills (testing required).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • SAP experience.

  • Takes initiative, quick learner.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid role, typically requiring onsite presence three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), with flexibility to switch onsite days for team meetings or supplier visits. The work environment features a recently renovated building with an open concept and no set desk assignments. The facility includes a large cafeteria. The dress code is business casual, with khakis or dress pants and a button-down shirt or blouse. Work hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $42.00
