Job Number: R0206959 Materials Engineer Generalist Key Role: Perform as a member on our team to build next-generation technologies for our defense clients by working on our materials and science engineering efforts. Participate in a dynamic team responsible for developing, integrating, and testing solutions to create emerging technologies and products for the next generation of warfighters. Develop, characterize, and support the scale-up of advanced materials, emphasizing high-temperature materials and high-performance composites, for defense and aerospace applications. Use various levels of testing for characterization and process development for manufacturing of materials. Advise organizational leadership on emerging technologies and market targets of opportunity for marketing and implementation. Work alongside leadership to ensure soldier solutions are fully integrated to increase business capability and value, reduce cost and risk, foster innovation, and maximize accountability and return on investment. Interact frequently with internal and external management and senior-level customer representatives concerning Booz Allen customer projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and contractual clarifications. Advise organizational leadership on how to implement emerging technologies and work alongside leadership to ensure soldier solutions are fully integrated on a continuous basis to increase mission capability and value to our clients. Maintain responsibility for evaluating technical specifications relating to the design objectives of processes or products. Evaluate the impact of materials processing on the environment. Basic Qualifications: Experience with materials science engineering or materials chemistry Experience supporting programs in the DoD Experience developing or modifying materials, including polymers, composite, ceramics, metals, nanomaterials, or biomaterials Knowledge of materials production, synthesis, characterization, and evaluation Knowledge of Agile project management, Lean Six Sigma, or Kanban Knowledge of advanced mathematical concepts Ability to provide solutions for multiple clients and stakeholders simultaneously Secret clearance Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years of experience in materials science engineering, or a Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or Mechanical Engineering Additional Qualifications: Experience with advanced materials, including metals, ceramics, composites, and polymers Experience coordinating with production and material processes for low-rate initial production and manufacture of materials solutions and product applications Experience identifying, selecting, and recommending materials for various extreme conditions and environments Experience with the in-product testing process and overall testing process improvements Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in highly complex environments Top Secret clearance Master's degree in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering Agile, Lean Six Sigma, or Project Management Certification Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
