AES Ohio serves approximately 500,000 customers in a 6,000 square-mile service area in Southwest-Central Ohio. This includes 14,800 miles of distribution lines and over 150 substations. The Manager of Transmission Operations is responsible for the Company's Transmission Operators. The manager is responsible for coordinating activities within the area to meet all applicable NERC, PJM and other regulations, company safety and operating standards and to follow acceptable utility operating standards. Main Responsibilities: Responsible for all activities of the Transmission Control Room including: Procedures to implement real-time actions, up to and including shedding firm load. Responsible for all actions for safety and reliability of the transmission electric grid, including field crews, electrical equipment, and customers in matters that affect grid reliability. Procedures for switching and tagging activities to achieve LOTO isolation on transmission equipment for both scheduled and outage situations. Responsible for all department Standard Operating Procedures. Monitors the development of the system model to simulate removing transmission elements from service resulting contingency analysis to prevent any real time violations which may occur. Maintain procedures to transfer operations to the Back-Up Control Center and implement if necessary. Coordinates with Distribution Operations and external resources to provide excellent customer service to our electric customers. Compentencies: Knowledge of the Company's substation, distribution and transmission systems, relay protection schemes, safety requirements, electrical theory, field equipment capabilities and associated operating procedures and guidelines. Strong sense of ambition, motivation, and confidence. Ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment. Capacity to make sounds judgments and crucial decisions in short amounts of time. Ability to understand and assimilate complex technical information. Skills to build and maintain relationships with multiple teams. Capable of ensuring processes and procedures are developed and implemented consistently. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline is desired or other relevant work history including military duty.
