For more information about MTSI, please visit www.mtsi-va.com. Responsibilities The Senior Hyperspectral Scientist/Engineer will support the National Air & Space Intelligence Center (NASIC). The candidate will help improve the understanding and utility of new sources of multi and hyperspectral GEOINT data, as well as to develop or prototype methods to calibrate, correct, process, analyze and/or exploit existing and future multi/hyperspectral data sources. The candidate will also accomplish activities necessary to perform research and development to: increase understanding of multi-/hyperspectral data from current and emerging sensors, including data formats; evaluate and monitor data quality; explore the application of the data to NASIC and IC problem sets; and to explore, understand, improve, and apply processing techniques and algorithms to the data. In addition, the Senior Hyperspectral Scientist/Engineer will: Conduct research to characterize hyperspectral sensor data. Review, evaluate, and recommend methodologies to assess hyperspectral data quality, establish long term data quality trends in support of future R&D projects and analytical application improvements to include identification of new/novel targets within the data. Evaluate and investigate data products from hyperspectral sensors to identify potential solutions to analytical challenges and gaps encountered by analysts exploiting hyperspectral data. Evaluate and recommend potential solutions that address identified analytical issues such as exploitation of challenging target types. Research and evaluate novel data processing and exploitation algorithms applicable to exploiting hyperspectral data and targets of interest, including atmospheric correction, identifying spectral features, and material detection/identification throughout the entire electro-optical spectrum. Assess existing hyperspectral tools, the applicability to the mission, and the level of effort to integrate each methodology into modern software, hardware, and network resources Characterize new sensors t
