Logan A/C & Heat Services Director of Finance & Controller in Dayton, Ohio

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and tech-savvy Director of Finance & Controller to lead the finance function within our growing organization. This individual will manage the Finance Manager, who handles the day-to-day financial operations and oversees both strategic financial planning and operational accounting functions. This role combines the responsibilities of financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis with operational accounting duties, including financial reporting, compliance, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. A key component of this position is driving the adoption of technology solutions, including Sage Intacct and our CRM to streamline, automate, and integrate financial processes across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership:

· Develop and manage financial forecasts, budgets, and analysis based on growth initiatives and expectations set by stakeholders.

· Provide actionable financial insights to leadership, supporting decision-making with strategic financial analysis.

· Align COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) and OPEX (Operating Expenses) with overall financial expectations and company goals.

· Work closely with other departments to ensure financial goals and operational performance are aligned with business objectives.

· Lead the development of long-term financial plans and provide recommendations to support business growth and profitability.

· Work with senior leadership to drive financial performance and meet organizational goals.

· Collaborate with the executive team on financial strategies, investments, and business expansion initiatives.

Operational Accounting and Reporting:

· Oversee the company's accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions.

· Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax filings, and reporting requirements.

· Manage the preparation of internal financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

· Oversee the close process, ensuring financial statements are prepared in a timely and accurate manner.

· Manage the preparation for audits, and ensure that internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and comply with regulatory standards.

· Work closely with our CPA firm to ensure tax filings are accurate and completed on time.

· Maintain oversight of the company's general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash flow management.

Technology and Process Improvement:

· Drive the automation and integration of finance and accounting processes, leveraging tools like Sage Intacct and Service Titan (our CRM) to improve efficiency and reduce redundancy.

· Implement and refine financial systems and technologies to optimize workflows and enhance operational performance.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

· Lead and manage the Finance Manager and other team members, ensuring that financial operations are handled efficiently and accurately.

· Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the finance department.

· Work cross-functionally with other departments to provide financial insights that guide business decision-making and operational improvements.

· Support the professional development of team members through coaching and mentorship.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA is a plus).

· Proven experience in financial management, with a background in both strategic finance and operational accounting.

· Expertise in financial systems, particularly Sage Intacct.

· Strong technical skills with an ability to leverage technology to streamline and automate financial processes.

· Comprehensive understanding of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.

· Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.

· Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities.

· Exceptional communication skills to work effectively with leadership and other departments.

· Knowledge of COGS, OPEX, and aligning financials with business objectives.

Preferred Skills:

· Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.

· Knowledge of tax filings and compliance, especially working with CPA firms.

· Experience in driving operational efficiency and process improvements through technology.
