Robert Half Payroll Accountant in Davenport, Iowa

Description

We are on the hunt for an experienced Payroll Accountant / Benefits Specialist with superb accuracy, excellent customer service skills, adaptability, and a detail-oriented approach. Your duties will comprise managing payroll for approximately about 200 employees across different states, including one union, as well as supporting various HR/Accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Compile and record employee time and payroll data.

  • Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.

  • Compute wages and deductions, and enter data into the payroll system.

  • Review and reconcile payroll data and rectify any discrepancies.

  • Manage reporting on salary, payroll taxes, and deductions.

  • Assist with annual audits, 401k audits and maintain all necessary payroll records

  • Aid with employee benefits, health plans, and retirement plans.

  • Conduct employee communication regarding benefits enrollments, changes, and termination.

  • Maintain records as per statutory laws and company policy.

  • Assist with month end journal entries to maintain the general ledger

  • Help with inventory maintenance

  • Review credit transactions and expenses

  • Perform various HR and Accounting tasks and provide support where needed.

    Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance OR equivalent years of experience

  • Proven experience as a payroll accountant and benefits administration.

  • In-depth understanding of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.

  • Strong knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal rules and laws.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.

  • Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems. Paylocity experience is extremely helpful!

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • High level of accuracy and ability to multitask.
