Robert Half Purchasing Specialist in Darien, Illinois

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity in Darien, Illinois for a Purchasing Specialist. This role plays an integral part in managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely procurement of materials and services. Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand their purchasing needs, analyzing market trends, and working to optimize the procurement process are key aspects of this role. The Purchasing Specialist will also support sales by ensuring that product availability aligns with sales forecasts and customer demands.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing vendors

• Conduct vendor performance reviews and manage vendor scorecards

• Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure optimal pricing and service levels

• Resolve any issues related to vendor performance, including delivery delays and quality concerns

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet company objectives

• Issue purchase orders and track the delivery of goods and services

• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely replenishment

• Analyze purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve procurement efficiency

• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations

• Collaborate with the sales team to align procurement activities with sales forecasts and customer demands

• Provide input on product availability and lead times to support the sales process

• Assist in developing promotional strategies by ensuring the availability of necessary products

• Work with sales to manage and resolve any issues related to product availability or delivery schedules

• Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and cost analysis

• Utilize data analytics tools to improve procurement processes and decision-making

• Monitor market trends and provide insights to guide purchasing decisions Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.

• Familiarity with About Time software is desirable.

• Experience in Accounting Functions is essential.

• Knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) is important.

• Customer Service skills are necessary.

• Ability to handle Invoices effectively and efficiently.

• Experience in Purchasing Activities is expected.

• Understanding of Purchasing Functions is vital.

• Experience in Purchasing Management is beneficial.

• Business sales skills are appreciated.
