Geisinger Manager Spiritual Care in Danville, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Responsible for planning, organizing directing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the activities of the department of spiritual care. Reviews services provided and develops new programs as the need arises. Promotes satisfaction among department team members and among external customers, by making sure all requests for spiritual care are met in a timely fashion according to the highest standards of care.

Job Duties

  • Provide Ecumenical and Interfaith Spiritual Care to the patients, families, and staff.

  • Participate in on-duty coverage, and administrative back-up coverage.

  • Supervises assigned personnel.

  • Interviews, hires, orients, and trainees all personnel performing spiritual care duties in the department.

  • Monitors work flow and assignments.

  • Sets the standards for care delivery.

  • Serves as a resource for clinical and operational issues.

  • Encourage accountability and participation by all staff personnel.

  • Schedule and authorize schedule changes.

  • Monitors and documents staff performance and competence.

  • Addresses and documents performance problems and administers human resource policies.

  • Provides coaching and counseling when needed.

  • Coordinate staff meetings, and communication in the department so that chaplains remain well-informed of changes and protocols in the department.

  • Manages program capital, manpower, and operating expenses.

  • Assisted in budget preparation budget and coordinates statistical analysis for the department.

  • Assures overall competency, proficiency of operation, excellence of spiritual care provided, safety of operation, professional decorum, public image, morale, and professional advancement for all personnel in the department.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and clinical units to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with mangers and medical personnel to ensure the delivery of excellent spiritual care.

  • Order and maintain supplies in the department such as office supplies, religious and spiritual supplies.

  • Develop and maintain a program of professional development that includes continuing education for chaplains, and volunteers.

  • Provides services to enhance and maintain team morale, and collegiality.

  • Directs the development and annual review of policies and procedures, assuming compliance with accreditation requirements and survey reviews.

  • Maintains healthy relationships with one’s denomination, and any other professional credentialing association required for continuing endorsement and standing.
