Geisinger Associate Vice President Health Information Management in Danville, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

Provides vision, organization and leadership for Health Information Management (HIM) within the system. Responsibilities include strategic planning, resource planning and prioritization, budget forecasting and management, continuous process improvement, strategic planning and effective communications to all appropriate levels.

Job Duties

  • Develops, recommends and administers approved HIM projects.

  • Provides leadership and accountability for development and integration of short- and long-term planning for HIM initiatives.

  • Develop and implement strategies and tactical plans to achieve organizational goals. This includes analyzing data, identifying growth opportunities and creating action plans.

  • Develops positive working relationships with system leaders to insure appropriate and effective use of Health Information Management.

  • Responsible for the review and development of HIM contracts for hardware, software and services.

  • Provides staff support to other Geisinger entities as needed for special projects.

  • Responsible to see that HIM standards are followed, including best practices that insure processes are as reliable, stable and modern as possible.

  • Maintains the operating budget and capital budgets for functions under direct control.

  • Attends meetings and educational programs as needed to stay current within the field.

  • Responsible to maintain a competent, appropriately educated workforce, one that stays current on technology.

  • Recruits, selects and develops staff who have a commitment to teamwork across functional lines.

  • Develops and monitors mechanisms for assessing customer and staff satisfaction with HIM services and uses customer feedback in modifying service design and delivery.

  • Assures compliance with The Joint Commission, OSHA, HIPAA, DOH and other regulatory requirements as required.

  • Determine opportunities to modernize the departments, including digitalization of workflows and leverage any AI capabilities.

  • Fosters a culture of continuous process improvement and innovation.

Work is typically performed in an office environment. Travel may be required. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Education

Bachelor's Degree- (Required), Master's Degree- (Preferred)

Experience

Minimum of 7 years-Information Technology (Required), Minimum of 7 years-Leadership (Required)

Certification(s) and License(s)

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - American Health Information Management Association; Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Association
