Summary The Assistant Chief executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines, influence organizational mission and health care, and responsibility for outcomes. Responsibilities Assists the QM Chief in providing leadership and guidance to develop, implement, refine and maintain a comprehensive quality management Improve the quality of patient care, and evaluate the appropriateness and timeliness of services provided Assists the Chief of QM with organizational communication with regulatory/accrediting bodies Employs a high level of expertise when communicating with regulatory agencies Providing transparency and truth in communications while mitigating risk to the organization and promoting integration of strong quality and safety practices into organizational culture Provide leadership in the development of ideas and provide recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of patient care throughout the organization Analyzes results and provides in-depth reports to top management and other high level meetings such as Executive Leadership Briefing Providing effective program management, incumbent assures high quality care Incumbent works closely with the Controlled Substance Coordinator, VA Police, Pharmacy, and other leadership stakeholders Participates in committees, boards, councils, and workgroups at both the facility and the VISN level Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:30am - 4:00pm Telework: Available for Ad-Hoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications Basic Requirements: Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level LCSW, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. In addition to the basic requirements above the following is the experience required to qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level: GS-13 Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in administration, demonstrating progressively more professional competency skills and judgment. Individual may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition, candidates must possess the following KSAs: (a) Knowledge of administrative and supervisory duties which includes personnel actions, clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments, and quality improvement. (b) Knowledge of legal, ethical, and professional standards applicable to social work practice. (c) Ability to develop, maintain, and oversee social work programs in all settings. (d) Knowledge of social work practice, policy, and accreditation standards across the continuum of health care. (e) Skill in providing consultation to facility leadership, managers, and other staff on social work qualification standards, practice, competency, productivity, and continuing education requirements. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Physical demands do not exceed those of a typical office setting.
