Eurofins Environment Testing Australia is an Environmental testing network of fully accredited laboratories. With a staff of over 200 our laboratories are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and with Client Service Offices located in Adelaide, Darwin, Newcastle and Wollongong. We also operate field sampling services out of Melbourne and Sydney. We specialise in all areas of Environmental analysis, including Contaminated Soil, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Soil Vapour, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Stack Emissions, Work Place Air, Ambient Air, Dust, Drinking Water, Surface Water run off, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater. 

  • Full time, permanent position based in Dandenong South, VIC for early 2025 commencement.

  • Monday - Friday, Morning (8am - 4pm) and Afternoon (2pm - 10pm) shift available. *Cover letter must outline shift preference and availability.

  • An extra 1.5% superannuation paid on stop of national standard super rate.

Reporting to the Section Supervisor, the instrument Chemist will be responsible for the operation of particular analytical instruments and for the production of acceptable results with verified QC protocols.

Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

  • Performing routine analytical, physical tests and sample preparation as required.

  • Controlling own workflow.

  • Ensuring samples are tested in a timely manner, completed, and integrity of results are maintained.

  • Ensuring correct methods are used and adhered to.

  • Ensuring working solutions of chemicals are prepared and maintained at appropriate quantities and qualities.

  • Calibrating and maintaining instruments and ensuring maintenance logs are kept up to date.

  • Preparing QC samples, CRMs standards and any other QC as required.

  • Monitoring, encouraging and supporting laboratory technicians as required.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will obtain the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Science or equivalent would be highly regarded.

  • Must have experience in PFAS analytical testing using LCMSMS technology.

  • Experience using GC-MS, GS-MC - P&T, GCMS-QQQ, LC-MSMS, GC-FID, FIA, Auto Titrator and similar analytical instruments.

  • Experience using instrument software relating to analytical instruments preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience preferred.

  • Good knowledge of standard MS office applications, particularly MS excel.

  • General knowledge about systems and production control.

  • Good communications skills - both written and verbal.

  • Desire to continually learn and improve and be a hand on hard worker / 'doer'.

  • Strong abstracting reasoning skills.
