Job Title: Transportation Manager

Location: 41 Eagle Rd, Danbury, CT 06810 (to move to Brewster, NY future)

Summary

In the Transportation Manager role youll be responsible for ensuring the entire Transportation Department is running smoothly, safely and efficiently.

Each shift you will ensure LesserEvils fleet of trucks stay up to date in all regards: preventative maintenance, driver safety training, and DOT compliance and your daily activities will be focused on fleet management, scheduling PMs with the leasing companies, driver management, and truck inspections.

Note: This is an off-the-road office job, not operating a vehicle/no CDL needed.

Schedule

Monday-Friday

8am-430pm

Overtime may be required

Note: this position will move to our Brewster, NY warehouse location in the near future (Expected move date is in Q1 of 2025)

Role/Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance across the transportation department, including but not limited to:
• with all DOT rules for drivers by utilizing DOT compliance software for current information.
• Is the subject matter expert for travel in CT and NY according to state laws and statutes
• Maintaining records of diesel purchases and monthly miles logged in order to pay HUT and IFTA quarterly taxes on time.
• Issuing disciplinary notices to drivers as needed.
• Reconciling fuel receipts against biweekly fuel purchase reports. Work with accounting department to approve and pay fuel receipts
• Researching and suggesting upgrades to trucks, DVIRs, and ELDs as necessary.
• Tracking truck damage and service related issues based on DVIRs, and schedule repairs.
• Training new drivers on LesserEvil driving policies. Craft, amend and implement any new or changed policies as needed
• Identifying problem areas and taking steps to resolve them. Schedule truck preventative maintenance to avoid repairs. Collaborate with in house staff to bring as much expertise internally as possible
• Working with the leasing company to secure rental/loaner cabs as needed.
• Creating an emergency plan for identified possible transportation issues
• Advising the Warehouse Operation Manager and/or executive team about the status of the fleet on a regular basis, including damage, schedule repairs, and fleet growth.Issue weekly status updates to the executive team
• Other duties as assigned.

Employee Focused Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety and working conditions for employees are in compliance.
• Serve as the main point of contact for the transportation team when they voice concerns.
• Foster the LesserEvil team oriented atmosphere and culture to achieve the best results.

Qualifications:

• Vast knowledge of CDL driving experience, DOT regulations, FMSCA policies, and interstate travel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High School degree or equivalent work experience
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• Ability to collaborate with different departments
• Proficient with Gmail, Excel and/or Google Sheets, preferred

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be willing to work in Danbury, CT
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Able to bend, lift, pull.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Able to spend long periods of time sitting and working on a computer.
• Must have a reliable vehicle as daily trips between factory, warehouse, and office may be necessary.
