Job Description:

The Role:

The Production Analytical QC Supervisor is responsible for maintaining lab quality and safety, implementing new analytical methods, leading analytical capability improvements, maintaining analytical equipment, and providing manufacturing support for existing and new products in our Specialty Gas and Specialty Coatings business units operating out of Danbury, CT. Additionally, they will support customer requests and work closely and effectively with Customer Quality, Sales, Marketing, and Research and Engineering.

The ideal candidate will be results oriented and an excellent team player and leader, with knowledge of various analytical instrumentation. There will be multiple lab technicians directly reporting to this position. Gas handling experience and people management skills are a plus. Certification or knowledge of ISO 17025 and 9001 standards are a plus.

What You'll Do:

  • Safely perform test methods to support current and new products including customer requests and failure analysis for our specialty gas and specialty coatings business units.

  • Have good working knowledge of analytical methods such as FTIR, ICPMS, CRDS, GC-MS, GC-DID, GC-PDHID, RGA Ellipsometry, XRF, and other surface analysis techniques, as well tests for physical properties such as hardness, scratch and indentation testing.

  • Train, supervise, and mentor other team members on analytical instruments, methods, SOP's, etc.

  • Work directly w/ site leaders to support production needs and be responsible for escalating any issues that put production at risk.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with site Quality, Engineering, Operations, and RandD teams to support analytical requests and transition new products into manufacturing environment.

  • Continuous improvement for existing analytical methods to meet growing customer demand

  • Establish detection limits, accuracy, precision, and stability for analytical methods via MSA methodology

  • Design, set up, and execute experiments - analyze data and communicate results to the team (or customers) via technical reports and presentations

  • Provide technical support to sales and marketing customer facing teams

  • Write and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions, and audit reports

  • Maintain and support lab practices and documentation per relevant ISO 17025 and 9001 requirements

  • Maintain and troubleshoot lab instrumentation to maintain uptime and meet business demand

  • 1020% travel, both domestic and international, to support customer and business unit and develop technical skills.

What We Seek:

  • At least 5 years of relevant lab experience.

  • Leadership experience with direct reports.

  • Team player attitude with a desire for excellence and continuous improvement

  • Flexible - ability to rapidly respond to new situations and perform multiple tasks

  • B.S degree of Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is a minimum

  • Ability to operate in a global environment

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

  • Operations and maintenance experience preferred.

  • Experience with safe handling of gas cylinders and operation of gas manifolds preferred.

  • Certifications or training in Six Sigma, Semi, ISO, etc, are a plus

  • Ability to complete projects accurately in a timely manner.

  • Ability to analyzing samples and meet required turn-around-time.

  • Experience interacting with a cross-funct onal team and supporting teams globally.

  • Clear and concise communication skills and comfortability with communication to organization and all customers, internally and externally.
