Essential Job Summary:

ThePayroll Associateis responsible for processing payroll changes for several unionized employee groups using Ceridian Dayforce. They will be the first level of response using our online ticketing system to assist with HR and payroll related inquiries/requests from managers and employees. In addition, the Payroll Associate is an integral member of the team and participates in strategic and operational projects to improve the workplace and the business.

Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Process employee changes in Ceridian, including transfers, rate changes, promotions, address changes, tax withholding changes, etc.

  • Process, and maintain all Wage Garnishments such as Child Support, Tax Levy's, Income Executions, etc.

  • Run monthly, bi-weekly, weekly reports and distribute to appropriate personnel and Union offices.

  • Periodically audit employee data is complete and accurate in Ceridian Dayforce

  • File and/or scan all payroll documents required in the employee’s file

  • Develop and maintain process for archiving employee documents according to set retention policies

  • Assist with processing all union billing.

  • Understanding 401k compliance and plan highlights.

  • Take part in all departmental audits as requested.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving payroll related issues.

  • Provide coverage within the department during the absence of a team member.

  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage, hour, and tax laws, as well as of the provisions in the applicable collective bargaining agreements.

  • Assist with coordinating team project tasks to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Participate in strategic initiatives and improvement projects

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in job duties

  • Demonstrated expertise in Prevailing Wage & Certified Payroll reporting

  • Strong team player

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Great communication skills – including the ability to communicate effectively with employees and managers at all levels of the organization

  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and Outlook

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations

  • Ability to deal with and maintain the integrity of highly sensitive and confidential information on a daily basis

  • Knowledge with year-end processes.

Preferred experience & skills

  • Fluency in Spanish

  • Completion of relevant undergraduate degree or certificate program

  • Experience processing payroll in Ceridian Dayforce

  • Experience working with numerous unionized employee population

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
