Nuvance Health EKG/Phlebotomy Technician in Danbury, Connecticut
Description
Summary:
Assesses daily unit activity and establishes appropriate priorities in order to perform EKG and phlebotomy procedures.
Responsibilities:
Collects blood specimens from patients per physician request.
Transports specimens to laboratory.
Performs EKG procedures on patients per physician request.
Orders/enters lab and EKG requests into database using information system software.
Communicates patient related information to appropriate personnel.
Downloads EKG discs to maintain database.
Investigates and resolves equipment problems. Restocks supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels.
As requested, transports patients to inpatient units or radiology in accordance with patient treatment schedules.
Assists in delivery of care to patients in the Phase 2 setting as necessary.
Participates in conferences, staff meetings, in-service training and the PI program to keep informed & promote customer satisfaction.
Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT
Other Information:
Required: Phlebotomy and EKG training.
Minimum Experience: zero to six months
Desired: Knowledge of medical terminology, customer service oriented.
Working Conditions:
Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Significant occupational risk
Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
