is seeking a

Production Analytical Chemist

with in-depth knowledge of analytical chemistry and techniques applied to the characterization of complex gases and materials. This knowledge is

required

to troubleshoot, develop, and

optimize

analytical methods for routine and non-routine QC analysis to support the Manufacturing and Engineering Teams.Due to the complex nature of the materials, this opportunity allows the right person to expand upon their technical skill set and

participate

on a dynamic team in a growing organization.

The ideal candidate will be results and detail oriented, strive to be an excellent team player, and be able to apply their solid knowledge of materials, analytical chemistry, and good lab practices to support the Danbury manufacturing team.

This position is for first shift: generally, 8 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday, limited weekend and/or holiday coverage may be

required

based on business needs.

What

Youll

Do

:

  • Prepare and conduct chemical and/or physical analyses as defined by existing work instructions on routine and non-routine samples using analytical instruments including: ICP-MS, GC-MS, GC-DID, GC-PHID, IR, CRDS, RGA, XRF, ellipsometry, hardness and modulus.

  • Document, process, transfer, and review analytical data to ensure completion, conformity, traceability, and validity to support production and other internal/external customer needs; take corrective action when necessary.

  • Follow and improve safety guidelines and maintain a clean and orderly environment (5S Guidelines). Follow all safe gas handling processes . SCBA training and use required .

  • Prepare Job Safety Analysis, and Process Hazard Assessments when necessary

  • Maintain instrumentation, tools, chemicals, and consumables required for product testing purposes

  • Effectively troubleshoot instruments and resolve any hardware or software issues

  • Run MSA studies for detection limits, accuracy, precision and stability for analytical methods

  • Design, set up, and execute experiments - analyze data and communicate results to the team

  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control and applying it to monitor processes and take corrective action when required .

  • Support lab practices per relevant Quality standards, ISO 17025 and 9001 requirements

  • Lead projects and efforts to foster continuous improvement of new or existing testing methods and practices

  • Compile and present data and other relevant information for continuous improvement, method development/validation, and other projects

  • Work on cross-functional teams as the analytical subject matter expert

  • Train other personnel to analyze samples or perform other laboratory tasks

What We Seek

:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Analytical Chemistry or relevant area of study is required

  • 3+ years of experience in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining analytical instrumentation (ICP-MS, GC-MS, GC-DID, GC-PHID, IR, CRDS, RGA, XRF, ellipsometry, hardness and modulus testers).

  • Individual needs to be focused and detail oriented to ensure q ality results

  • Knowledge and demonstration of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace

  • Team player attitude with a desire for excellence and continuous improvement

  • Flexible - ability to rapidly respond to new situations and perform multiple tasks

  • Self-starter, comfortable working independently

  • Strong dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and ability to safely perform routine repetitive motions

  • Advanced mechanical inclination and experience operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment

  • Good communication skills both in writing and verbal to explain process issues, resolutions and requirements to other team members and leadership both in our US and Asia plants.

  • Ability to work fully on-site.

  • Experience with safe handling of gas cylinders and operation of gas manifolds preferred.

Knowledge of Laboratory and Data applications such as Chromeleon, OpenLab, LabWare, SampleManager, JMP etc, in addition to common MS office application strongly preferred.
