Description
We are on the lookout for a Property Accountant to join our team located in Minnesota. As a Property Accountant, you will be tasked with overseeing all financial aspects of our communities, requiring a keen eye for detail and an ability to maintain accurate records. This role involves handling client audit requests, maintaining cash balances, and ensuring financial packages are completed and delivered in a timely and accurate manner.
Responsibilities
• Oversee the preparation of financial statement packages, including the creation and posting of journal entries, and the review of the general ledger
• Monitor cash balances and ensure related invoices are paid
• Resolve and document responses to all review comments generated
• Review financial statement variances and document explanations for significant items
• Ensure timely payments of all debt, real estate tax, sales tax, and owner distribution payments while maintaining internal schedules
• Verify bank reconciliation is complete and resolve all reconciling items in a timely manner
• Adhere to internal accounting policies and procedures
• Assist in the setup and transitions of properties, including loading beginning balance information, sale pro-ration calculations, and closing entries
• Handle client audit requests as required
• Ensure that budget information has been properly input.
Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in property accounting
• Proficiency in Yardi and Yardi Software is required
• Demonstrated experience in full cycle accounting
• Strong understanding of property accounting principles and procedures
• Proven ability to prepare and analyze journal entries
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Knowledge of financial reporting and data analysis
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills
• Professionalism and ethical behavior when handling the company’s financial information.
