Team or Function Overview

The operations manager will oversee an enthusiastic team of professionals ensuring that our products and services meet the demands of our customers. We strive to protect what matter most and that is manufacturing the best products available.

Summary

We are looking for an Operations Manager who will function as a key member of the facility staff leadership team. Coordinate with other staff members to ensure that facility goals are met. Manage the Production and Maintenance departments to ensure that customer quality requirements are consistently met safely and at the lowest possible cost.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage daily production operations through the Production Manager, production supervisors and/or production teams to maximize production efficiencies including volume ofproductproduced,runrates,rawmaterialutilization,yieldloss,downtime,andslowdown while producing high quality product in a safe manner. Ensure that standards and expectationsareinplace,routinelycommunicated,clearlyunderstoodandconsistentlymet.

  • Manage daily maintenance operations through the maintenance manager, maintenance supervisors and planner. Establish work practices that optimize machine availability while balancing costs. Direct activities through the maintenance supervisors and planner to achievemaximummachineutilizationandreliability.Establishandimplementbestpractices including preventative measures that continuously improve machine performance. Approve all purchases of storeroom parts and maintenance services.

  • Meetdailyproductionscheduleandrequirements,Workjointlywithlogisticsandpurchasing to ensure appropriate inventory mix is available, while balancing both production efficiency and raw material demands.

  • Develop, implement and track compliance to production and maintenance department expense budgets. Control key cost elements to ensure achievement of budget spending goals. Guide both production and maintenance supervision to achieve a balance between production needs, machine reliability and overall repair cost.

  • Ensure that production crews and maintenance techs are well trained, involved and committed to meeting production, quality and safety requirements. Assure that equipment andmachinerycomplieswithalloutsideregulatoryagencyrequirementsandthatemployees are adequately protected against safety hazards and that the plant is operated within environmental permit requirements.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the production and maintenance departments. Responsible for maintaining an environment for good employee relations to prevent any union organizing attempts. Work closely with human resources and supervisors to ensure appropriate staffing is maintained. Participate in the hiring process to ensure we staff motivated team members. Ability to effectively communicate the Bonus Plan to all employees to maximize participation and impact on performance.

  • Manage production and maintenance department efforts supporting capital projects. Work with engineering managers and project engineers to define production and maintenance needs for capital to reduce outside contractor costs. Manage production team efforts to perform raw material and other process trials in conjunction with the process engineering department.

  • Ability to perform detailed testing processes in various process conditions.

  • Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of manufacturing equipment and machinery.

  • Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing and proofreading.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Under This Roof, We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred) or Bachelor’s of Scienceinanotherdisciplinethatiscoupledwithextensivemanufacturingexperience.

  • A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated manufacturing management experience including direct management of both production and maintenance functions.

  • Experienceinhighvolumemanufacturingoperation,preferablycontinuouswebprocess.

  • Advanced computer skills, including G Suite, WinSPC, AutoCAD, Braincube as well as the ability to quickly learn and master plant specific programs.

  • Strong data analysis skills. Advanced spreadsheet design and data manipulation/analysis a plus.

  • Strong problem solving skills and techniques, with an emphasis on the use of techniques such as PPA, MVT/DOE and Kepner-Tregoe.

  • Ability to respond to requests in a professional and timely manner.

  • Strongplanning,prioritization,organizationalandreportingskills.

  • Independentproblem-solvingskills.

  • Positive attitude, ability to adapt and contribute to a team environment is critical.
