This job is a member of the Technical Operations Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP). The program is a voluntarily safety reporting program. If you are looking to make a difference and have an opportunity to elevate safety in ground airport operations, this is the position for you. This position will be responsible for leading the GSAP by ensuring safety information is evaluated to identify potential risks and opportunities, performs risk and root cause analysis, interfaces with subject matter experts (SME) to identify causal factors, escapes, and evaluates current processes and procedures for effectiveness. The Manager is responsible for engaging all stakeholders on the benefits of the program, sharing insight on risk in the operation and partnering to enhance safety. The role will be responsible for ensuring senior leadership is informed on the progress of the program and awareness when support is needed.
Collaboration and relationships are critical to the success of this role. Collaboration with operational leaders, operational team members, union representatives, supporting departments, other ASAPs (e.g. Flight, Flight Service, Maintenance, Customer Care, Dispatch, etc.) and other operating departments.
What you'll do
Facilitates the Event Review Committee (ERC) with the union and Federal Aviation Administration ASAP representatives to evaluate reported safety concerns and events to effectively develop correct actions to improve safety
Communicates lessons learned, risk concerns and recommendations to enhance safety
Ensures coordination with other AA departments on all pertinent issues on behalf of the ERC
Develops and maintains effective working relationships within and outside of the ASAP ERC
Acts as primary ERC voting member for management
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience/training
4 years experience in aviation industry
Ability to travel
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Knowledge of maintenance programs and CFR part 121
Skilled in the use of MS Office (with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint), SABRE, CERS, and WBAT or similar complex database system
Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (CFR 121), Just Culture, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and AA Ops Safety Policies and Procedures
Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including collaboration, problem solving, diplomacy, etiquette and team building
Ability to demonstrate strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Experience in metrics, development of dashboards and data analysis
Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
Must be able to perform his/her duties under strict confidentiality guidelines.
Ability to travel (50%)
