Wells Fargo Lead Credit Risk Officer - Corporate Credit, Corporate Risk in DALLAS, Texas

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Credit Risk Officer in Consumer Credit Risk as part of Corporate Risk to provide senior credit officers and various other business partners with insights in a proactive and forward-looking in-depth analysis.

Consumer Credit is the independent risk management team responsible for providing credit oversight and credible challenge for Wells Fargo's retail/consumer businesses.

In this role, you will:

  • Identify and resolve policy and process gaps by incorporating root cause analysis, control design assessment, and strategic thinking

  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop and implement policy and process enhancements by building consensus, challenging partners when necessary, and driving for timely completion of deliverables

  • Manage time sensitive, critical enterprise or credit risk initiatives in an organized and independent manner while receiving direction from leaders

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and identify opportunity for risk mitigation strategies within Credit Risk

  • Review and analyze moderately complex processes and projects, business, operational, or technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors

  • Exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

  • Review and analyze complex strategies, programs and policies with a direct and significant impact on credit risk appetite and culture

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

  • Work in partnership with business for oversight of risk management

  • Establish priorities and drives accountability for assigned initiatives, providing leadership to ensure solutions are designed, integrated and controlled to optimize effectiveness, account for all aspects of risk exposure, and create efficiencies as appropriate

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong control management, project management and/or process development experience

  • Policy and/or procedure management experience

  • Ability to work independently and execute in a fast paced, rapidly changing, environment while balancing multiple priorities

  • Ability to apply strategic thinking and thought leadership to initiatives and ensure timely completion of objectives

  • Ability to communicate issues, risks, and proposed solutions effectively and succinctly, in both written and verbal formats, with senior leaders

  • Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of the organization

  • Problem solving and analytical skills with proven ability to turn findings into executable plans

  • Proven ability to lead in a highly matrixed environment across all organizational levels, challenging senior leadership where needed to influence decision making

  • Strong risk background and broad familiarity with regulation and risk requirements

  • Experience communicating and presenting complex information to multiple levels of the organization including senior executive-level leaders
