We are seeking an IT Asset Management (ITAM) Director with responsibilities including Configuration Management Database (CMDB) partnership playing a crucial role in managing and optimizing an organization's IT assets and configuration items. This role is essential for ensuring that an organization's IT assets and configuration items are effectively managed, optimized, and aligned with business objectives. Here are the key responsibilities and duties typically associated with this role:
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement IT asset management strategies to optimize the use of IT resources.
Align ITAM and CMDB practices with organizational goals and objectives.
Policy Development:
Establish and enforce policies and procedures for asset and configuration item acquisition, usage, and disposal.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Asset and Configuration Item Lifecycle Management:
Oversee the entire lifecycle of IT assets and configuration items, from procurement to retirement.
Ensure accurate inventory tracking and documentation of all IT assets and configuration items in the CMDB.
CMDB Management:
Maintain and manage the SAM & HAM CMDB to ensure it accurately reflects the current state of the IT environment.
Ensure data integrity and consistency within the CMDB by implementing robust data governance practices.
Financial Management:
Manage budgets related to IT assets and configuration items, optimizing spending.
Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making on IT investments.
Vendor Management:
Assist in negotiation contracts and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Ensure compliance with vendor agreements and service level agreements (SLAs).
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate risks associated with IT assets and configuration items, including security and compliance risks.
Implement controls to protect sensitive data and ensure business continuity.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor a team of IT asset managers and CMDB administrators.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Reporting and Analytics:
Generate reports and provide insights on asset and configuration item utilization, performance, and costs.
Use data analytics to drive informed decision-making and improve ITAM and CMDB processes.
LOCATION: Remote in the United States
Educational Background:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
IT Asset Management (ITAM) certification.
Experience:
Extensive experience in IT asset management and CMDB administration, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
Develop and implement IT asset management strategies, policies, and procedures.
Oversee the acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal of IT assets.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date inventory of all IT assets.
Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for hardware and software purchases.
Monitor and analyze asset performance and utilization to optimize asset lifecycle.
Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with other departments to align IT asset management with organizational goals.
Develop and manage the IT asset management budget.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in ITAM and CMDB tools and software.
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software licensing, and configuration management.
Strong knowledge of IT asset management best practices and industry standards.
