Position: EDI Developer
Job Description:
As a EDI Developer at Forward Air, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing B2B integrations. This position demands a highly skilled developer with a deep understanding of EDI and API technologies, who can independently drive complex integration projects and collaborate with internal teams and external partners. You will be responsible for creating seamless data exchange systems that are critical to our business operations
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Develop and implement EDI and API solutions to meet business requirements
Design data mapping and transformation logic between various systems and data formats
Develop and maintain integration scripts, middleware, and APIs to facilitate seamless data exchange
Monitor and optimize the performance of EDI and API systems to ensure high availability and efficiency
Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues, including data discrepancies and transmission errors
Work closely with internal IT teams, business units, and external partners to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement integration strategies
Collaborate with vendors and service providers to integrate and support EDI and API solutions
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for integrations, including data maps, system configurations, and process workflows
Provide training and support to internal teams and external partners to ensure effective use and understanding of integration solutions
Lead integration projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope
Develop project plans, monitor progress, and communicate status updates to stakeholders
Implement and enforce data security measures, including encryption and authentication, to protect sensitive business information
Ensure compliance with relevant standards and protocols, including ANSI X12, EDIFACT, and XML
Generate and analyze reports related to integration performance, error rates, and transaction processing
Use data-driven insights to recommend and implement improvements to integration processes
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in EDI and API integration development, with a strong background in designing and implementing B2B integrations.
Proven experience in working with EDI standards and protocols, including ANSI X12 and EDIFACT.
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage APIs and integration solutions using modern technologies and tools.
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in integration, such as Java, C#, Python, or similar.
Experience with integration platforms and middleware solutions.
Strong understanding of data mapping, transformation, and communication protocols.
Experience in leading integration projects and managing project timelines and deliverables.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex integration issues.
Understanding of supply chain logistics and the impact of EDI and API integrations on business operations.
Ability to travel occasionally to various office locations as needed.
