**DETENTION SERVICE OFFICER
A detention service officer is to ensure the safety and security of inmates, personnel, and the jail, while also performing law enforcement duties.
Responsibilities include:**
- Inmate processing:Processing inmates when they enter and leave the jail, which includes paperwork, fingerprinting, photographs, and medical assessments
- Inmate care:Ensuring inmates' physical condition, dispensing medication, and inventorying their property
- Facility maintenance:Keeping the jail clean and sanitary
- Security:Conducting contraband searches, patrolling the jail, and maintaining order in the cell block
- Transportation:Transporting inmates to court, medical facilities, and other related locations
- Escorting:Escorting inmates to and from cells, and to court
- Communication:Communicating with inmates and other employees, and informing supervisors of work activities
- Documentation:Preparing documentation for transporting inmates, and processing paperwork
- Restraints:Applying and removing restraints on inmates when necessary
- Investigations:Investigating crimes and critical incidents, and collecting evidence
- Fingerprinting:Fingerprinting citizens for adoption, employment, or other reasons
Education: High school diploma OR equivalent

Hours/Shifts: Flexible Detention service officers must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
