Job Summary:
Medical City Children's Congenital Heart Surgery Center is seeking a full time Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their premier group.
Qualified Candidates:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Graduate of an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care Program or Physician Assistant program
Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure or PA licensure
Current Nurse Practitioner certification in Pediatric Acute Care
Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS provider card as required by department and facility
Eligible for hospital privileges
Previous experience with Pediatric Cardiac ICU or Congenital Heart Surgery required
Job Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical and ongoing clinical assessments for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative and post-operative patients
Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs such as x-rays, EKGs and laboratory tests
Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families and caregivers related to patient’s condition and current care
Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
Demonstrates proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate based on specialty and training
Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients
Proficient use of EMR in the delivery of care
Organizes and participates in weekly Multidisciplinary Case Conferences
Monday-Friday day position with shared call responsibilities

About Medical City Children's Hospital:
On-site there are 108 NICU beds and a 12-bed dedicated congenital heart unit with a 12-bed step down unit. They cover a robust number of neonates with complex congenital heart disease, some adults, and no transplants.
