Job Title: Utilization Management NurseJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Utilization Management Nurse to review handwritten and computer-generated documents, ensuring tasks are prioritized effectively. The nurse will be responsible for assessing medical necessity for inpatient stays and coordinating with medical directors for further review if criteria are not met. This role involves authorizing and denying requests, completing authorization reviews within one business day, and managing a workload of 12-20 authorizations per day.

Responsibilities

• Review handwritten and computer-generated documents for accuracy and completeness.

• Prioritize tasks effectively to ensure timely completion of reviews.

• Send documents to the medical director for further review if criteria do not meet medical necessity for an inpatient stay.

• Follow up with the Utilization Management department at hospitals by phone or fax to offer peer-to-peer consultations before sending official denials.

• Complete authorization reviews within one business day turnaround time.

• Manage a mixture of new and concurrent reviews, processing 12-20 authorizations per day.

Essential Skills

• Active TX RN License

• Experience in utilization management and concurrent review

• Strong communication skills

• Proficiency in computer and documentation tasks

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in managed care is preferred

Work Environment

This is a full remote work-from-home position. The working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The dress code is business casual. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $39.00/hr.
