Job Description:

​ Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform interview and assessment of patient’s leisure functioning and leisure related needs

• Establish appropriate leisure-related goals based on assessment findings and determine interventions by which these goals are achieved

• Provide therapeutic recreation services offered to patients at Scottish Rite

• Assist in the supervision of volunteers involved in therapeutic recreation programs

• Record clinical treatment notes in patients’ chart and prepare progress reports for oral presentation to treatment team members

• Monitor use and condition of recreational equipment

• Maintain professional certification(s)

  Required Skills/Abilities

• Studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation or bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation is required

• Current certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) at the professional level of Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)

• Current CPR certification

• Current Texas Driver's License with eligibility to drive hospital vehicles

• Bilingual in Spanish preferred

• Professional level communication skills both verbal and written
